AA District 12 NH Service Postion Openings

Get involved in your recovery! Give back what was freely given!

The following service positions are open..
.

Corrections Co-Chair: Woman's...

The Corrections Chair positions ensure that AA meetings are provided to all corrections facilities within the district borders and cooperate with the NHAA Area 43 Corrections committee to supply meetings at state facilities outside of the district borders.

A male AA is elected to address meetings at male corrections facilities and a female AA is elected to address meetings at female corrections facilities. The district will allocate separate budgets for each chair.

The Men and Women’s Correction chairs will cooperate to provide support for corrections related half-way houses and other facilities within the district borders. Where expeditures are required, funds may be donated from both budgets by the chairs.

These positions coordinate the meetings held at these locations through cooperation with the corrections officials. The Chairs are also responsible for keeping these facilities supplied with AA pamphlets and books. This is done primarily through a budget allotted by the district and supplemented by donations of literature from groups within the district.

The chairs must stay in contact with the NHAA Corrections Chair on matters related to the State Prison system and its related impact on AA groups and speakers attending those facilities. The chair should also work with the state representative on guidelines of listing contact people in AA District 12 for prisoners entering society after incarceration. A good understanding of AA Traditions and patience with a strict prison system are prerequisites to this role.

The chair may visit groups within the district and speak on the need and purpose of service work regarding the prison system. In addition, the positions are responsible for quarterly reports to the District Assembly.

"The Voice Within" Newsletter Chair...

The Newsletter Chair is responsible for publication of the District 12 newsletter, The Voice Within. The Newsletter is normally published bimonthly. The chair calls editorial meetings, oversees the gathering of material, editorial review, layout and printing processes. The chair is also responsible for appointing the staff of the Newsletter. This chair is responsible for distributing the publication to the GSRs at the District Assembly on the month of publication. Other methods of distribution may also be employed by the chair.
This post requires an interest in seeing district information, AA material and individual perspectives published to enrich the scope of AA in District 12. Constant contact with the district fellowship and functions is a pre-requisite. It is of primary importance that the chair stays in contact with the pulse of AA groups within the district. A solid foundation in AA Traditions is helpful to carrying out the necessary duties imposed by this position. It is also a plus to be aware of the material circulating worldwide in AA publications on all levels.
Quarterly reports to the District Assembly are required.

Public Information and Cooperation With the Professional Community (PI/CPC)...

This position is the foremost contact between AA District 12 and a long list of outside agencies. These include: area school administrators, lawyers, judges, doctors, churchmen, police etc. The chair is the person who approaches these agencies or upon their request provides critical information only as to what AA can provide in the vein of cooperation without affiliation. Among the services the committee offers is AA literature, displays and basic information that presents AA for what it is in the fabric of any community.
This position provides accurate information for the media and answers inquiries from the general public.
The chair puts together lists of volunteers, from the district, to speak at appropriate times and locations, participates in the presentation of conference approved radio and TV spots and networks closely with the NHAA chair for current information.
Solid contact with the NHAA Area 43 PI/CPC Chair(s) is required.
This position requires good judgment and a sound appreciation of AA Traditions.
The chair should be familiar with and take guidance from the various AA pamphlets and the AA Guidelines (Yellow pages) which are available from GSO.

Local Committee Member (LCM) (east)...

One of the primary responsibilities of the District Committee Member is to serve as an information channel between the groups of District 12, the Area Assembly and the General Service Office. Because of the large size of District 12, it is not possible for a single person to perform this role. To resolve this problem the District Assembly has adopted the position of Local Committee Member (LCM) from the A.A. Service Manual.
LCMs are district officers; as such they are elected by the District Assembly.
Each LCM is elected to cover a zone within the District. The District Assembly defines the boundaries and number of zones into which the district is subdivided.2 The list of groups within each zone is maintained by the District Registrar.
Because they serve as an extension of the District Committee Member they operate under oversight and guidance of the DCM. They serve as a resource to the groups in their zone and are able to provide specific information related to difficulties or concerns that the groups may be having as they relate to AA Guidelines, Traditions and Concepts. For example, the LCMs may make themselves available to chair group inventories if requested to do so. The LCM may research questions raised by groups in their zone. Groups in an LCM’s zone, which do not have an active GSR, are a special concern.
The LCMs and the DCM comprise a committee which meets on at least a quarterly basis to coordinate the activities of the LCMs within the district. The DCM will appoint a chair from amongst the LCMs.
LCMs need to have a firm understanding of AA Traditions, Legacies, Concepts and an ability to separate personal feelings from their service work. They are a permanent part of the Group Services Committee. Their role is not to supersede but to verify the authority of group conscience.
Attendance at the District Assembly, the LCM Committee and the Group Services Committee is mandatory. Quarterly reports are required with updates when needed. Occasional attendance at NHAA meetings is suggested. Familiarity with the AA Service Manual is extremely helpful to the performance of their duties. The guideline is help without interference.
